To most, the concept of "frolicking" would typically imply an establishment with ample space to dance, carefree, without the danger of crashing into a barstool. At roughly half the size of a double-wide, however, the Frolic Room is not such an establishment. The thought of "frolicking" also implies an atmosphere of progressive sexual liberation. And, if one were to offer a martini to the 65+ year old peroxide blonde in the corner, this atmosphere would certainly hold true — but trust your WDBT Czars and their worldly experience: do not buy the 65+ year old peroxide blonde in the corner a martini.

Still, the Frolic holds a place in the heart of any WDBT trooper. As one of the last remaining true Hollywood dives, the Frolic keeps its top shelf liquor relegated to the furthest end of the bar, covered in cobwebs. The Hollywood charm is also apparent in a bouncer who will gladly wave anyone remotely close to 21 through the door — with a caustic quip for anyone who bothers to show ID — but blacklists the 75 year old drunkard and former Charlton Heston stand-in who already blew his social security check there the previous night. Once inside, you’ll be treated to historic murals depicting partying Hollywood stars of your grandfather’s era, and, for some reason, a passed out drunk Einstein. Figure out the symbolism in that one, and you’ve figured out the true meaning of the World Dive Bar Tour.

As usual, the casual debauchery starts around 9pm and gets really interesting by 10:00. Come for one drink, or stay for one too many, bring anyone and everyone, and join us for a great time in the middle of the week. If you arrive early or late, look for the people having a damn good time (it’ll be us), or start having a damn good time on your own (we’ll find you).
