September 5th, 2007: O’Hara’s
WEDNESDAY, September 5th, 2007
O’Hara’s
1000 Gayley Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90024
Remember those days of filling out college applications, taking the SAT, and writing essays about yourself and your well-formed character before stressing for months at the mailbox? And for what? Exciting learning opportunities like "The Art of the Political Cartoon", "Ballroom Dancing", and "Writing 240". Or the different, more hedonistic education with a syllabus of excessive drinking, sloppy college Coeds, and the smell of spilled beer and its sticky texture underfoot. The (loosely) Irish-themed O’Hara’s is just such a place to earn this college credit.
Formerly ‘Maloney’s on Campus’, O’hara’s occupies the corner of Gayley and Weyburn in Westwood Village: deep in the heart of Bruin territory. Located in or around a garage for the Whole Foods market (it hard to tell which came first), forgo that parking option as you should be able to find a spot on the street. Bending standard dive bar rules in honor of this themed drinking night, there is no cover but there may be a short line of thirsty coeds depending on the hour. Should this occur, we suggest you take it as a chance to meet the locals under good light before you attempt to buy them a drink at the bar.
As usual, the casual debauchery starts around 9PM and gets really interesting by 10:00 . Come for one drink, or stay for one too many. Bring anyone and everyone, and join us for a great time in the middle of the week. If you arrive early or late, look for the people having a damn good time (it’ll be us), or start having a damn good time on your own (we’ll find you).
Carpe Drink’em,
